How many teams are selected for Malvern Prep?

There are three lacrosse teams: Varsity, JVA, and JV B. Typically, the JV B has been comprised of all freshmen.


When is registration?

Typically registration will begin between December and February. Contact the Athletic office if you do not receive any information by the beginning of February.


When do try-outs occur?

For the 2012 season, the official date for try-outs will begin on Friday February 24th. All teams should be selected prior to March 3, 2012. Details for try-out times will be provided by email.


What equipment do I need to have?

All players are expected to be properly equipped or they will not be allowed to play. Each player is to have a helmet, shoulder pads, gloves, arms pads, and a mouth guard. For the JV A and JV B, purchasing a Malvern helmet is optional. A Varsity lacrosse player must have a Malvern helmet. Malvern helmets can be purchased at Wayne Sporting Goods. Helmet decals are provided by Mr. Mills.

The varsity players are to wear their practice jersey and practice shorts. In addition, Varsity players should have Malvern sweat tops and bottoms, which can be purchased through Wayne Sporting Goods. Sweat tops and bottoms are recommended, not mandatory.

V A and JV B should have a Malvern practice jersey, which can be purchased from Mr. Schiller. Practice shorts are not mandatory.

All players should have cleats to wear at every practice. Players should also have their sneakers just in case the gym is needed for practice.


How do I get Malvern lacrosse merchandise?

Can I buy pictures from that are taken and are on the website?

All of the pictures taken of the game will be available for view and purchase on SamolskyStudios!.
Pictures are usually available 1 to 2 days following the game.


Are their trainers at every game if my son gets hurt?

It is expected that a Malvern trainer will be on site either at the game or on the Malvern school campus.


Does my son need any additional medical forms completed for Lacrosse besides the initial one provided before school started ?

All forms that need to be completed by students in order to participate in a sport are located on Malvern website. Please go to the "athletics" page and click on "forms." Any other questions pertaining to this issue should be directed to Bill Mills, the Head Athletic Trainer.


Does practice ever occur at another location?

Kelly Field in West Chester and United Sports in Downingtown are two alternative locations for practice and / or games.


What if my son wants to drive to a game, scrimmage or practice?

It is advised that players use Malvern bus transportation in order to travel to games. However, if a player needs to use his own form of transportation, that individual should complete the “athletic travel and consent” form located on the website. This form needs to be signed by a parent or guardian. This form needs to be turned into Mr. Ruch a day in advance. All passengers must have notes signed by a parent/guardian as well.


Who should fill in a prospective student questionnaire?

All students between 7th and 11th grade, who are currently NOT attending Malvern Preparatory school should submit their questionnaire to Coach Metzbower if you are interested in attending Malvern and playing lacrosse.
